Small Gray Games was a game developer in need of simple, clean branding.
While working with Small Gray Games on the illustrations for The Salt Keep, I also worked with them on their logo and a few other graphics for previous games.
The client wanted to keep the focus on the games, so we went with a very simple design for the logo. I set the type in Poppins and altered it slightly with a degraded effect. The logo will be displayed on a variety of platforms, so the compactness of a square logo with justified text makes it versatile.
Small Gray Games' first game The Idle Class, a business simulator clicker, was also in need of some artwork to display when linking on social media, so I worked up the image to the right. The tone of The Idle Class is sardonic and critical; we agreed that a big arrow pointing downward illustrates the feel of the game well.
SGG also developed a toy that summarized your personal Twitter interactions each week: The Reply Guy Awards. The humorous tone of the tool is reflected in the MS Paint-style cover art. With Twitter now charging for access to its API, The Reply Guy Awards is now defunct, though its memory lives on in my portfolio.
